AFS – Active Fiber Systems GmbH [Member of the TRUMPF Group] is located in Jena known as the ‘City of Photonics’ in Germany. Active Fiber Systems GmbH (AFS) is a technological leader for high-power femtosecond laser systems. Our employees have pushed the boundaries of what is possible over the last decade. Our solutions range from compact options all the way to complex high-power femtosecond laser beamlines with multiple output ports. All of our high-power laser systems are fully-based on fiber amplifier technology – developed in Jena, Germany.

Fiber lasers enjoy an excellent reputation as power-scalable diode-pumped solid-state laser concept. Their immunity against thermo-optical issues is combined with efficiency, excellent performance and turnkey reliability. During the last two decades, ultra-short-pulse fiber-laser systems have been continuously improved in Jena’s research institutes (e.g. Fraunhofer IOF, Institute for Applied Physics). The laboratory results are ground-breaking; several world records in performance are held in Jena. Today, as a spin-off, AFS even surpassed the performance of these research laser systems in many parameters and has become a world-wide technological leader in many fields of high-power laser development.
